The Robomag BW 177 single-drum roller is a technical carrier for testing and developing all the subsystems required to achieve fully autonomous operation. Depending on the construction operation or on-site conditions, this machine is designed to be flexibly deployed through manual and autonomous control. Robomag's innovative ultra-thin design ensures that single-drum rollers can operate even in narrow field conditions.
At bauma, the Robomag BW 177 design study will showcase functional devices and automated interfaces: thanks to close-range remote control, operators can always see the machine and control heavy machinery from a safe distance, even in critical environments, while achieving the expected results. The environment of construction sites is also provided with additional protection by obstacle detection systems. Both systems - radio remote control and obstacle detection - are now available for traditional BMW single drum rollers, and more models of BMW single drum rollers will be launched successively after BMW.
With the help of the special software automation interface installed in the machine, the first stage of autonomous driving on the road can be extended to fully autonomous single-drum rollers through various technologies and stages. The Robomag software is now capable of establishing a connection with the remote control. In the second stage, the machine will be controlled by the operator without visual contact, such as in an office. This so-called Office Controlled Machine is technically feasible, and the Robomag single-drum roller is ready for it.
The final stage of development is a fully autonomous single-drum roller, which is controlled only by a computer and requires no manual intervention. With the Robomag BW 177 design research and all necessary safety systems, BOMag is gradually preparing the entire machine to technically connect different types of control devices - up to a fully autonomous single-drum roller. The final development stage requires more advanced authentication security technologies, such as automatic shutdown, special camera systems and reliable security systems, to eliminate all potential security risks. Even though the regulatory framework conditions for all development stages of autonomous driving have not yet been in place, BOMag has already provided the foundation for the future through Robomag BW 177. Currently, through technologies such as obstacle detection,
