Caterpillar: Milestone! Over 100 million tons!

Newmont Corporation's Bodington Gold Mine, the largest gold mine in Western Australia, recently announced that the total amount of safely transported materials by its fleet equipped with the Cat® MineStar™ Command automatic transportation system has exceeded 100 million tons!

The fleet operating at this gold mine includes 36 Cat® 793F unmanned mining trucks and 4 793D mining dump trucks equipped with drivers. It is currently the first fleet in the gold mining industry to deploy an Autonomous Haulage System (AHS for short).

Newmont Company has made significant investments in the automatic transportation project, with the aim of enhancing the safety, production efficiency and life cycle of the mine. It took only seven months from the first Cat 793F completing its transition to automation to the last one achieving the conversion.

We are extremely proud to have deployed the industry's first fleet of automated transport trucks at the Boddington Gold Mine, which will help extend the mine's life cycle, reduce safety risks and operational costs.

The realization of this milestone is another example of the strategic transformation cooperation between Caterpillar and Newmont. In 2021, Caterpillar and Newmont reached an agreement to collaborate on a series of mining technologies and jointly create safer, more efficient and more sustainable mines.
