Recently, Hyliion (NYSE:HYLN), an 8-level heavy truck electrification powertrain solution provider, and Cummins jointly announced that they will work together to optimize Cummins' natural gas engine, applying it as a generator to Hyliion's Hypertruck ERX powertrain.

Hypertruck ERX is Hyliion's electric range extender developed for semi-trailers, charging the battery through an on-board generator to provide power for the truck. Hyliion and Cummins have joined forces, planning to integrate Cummins' natural gas engine with Hypertruck ERX powertrain and obtain key environmental certifications.

J. Michael Taylor, the Global Powertrain Integration Manager of Cummins, said: "We are very pleased to collaborate with Hyliion to provide innovative electric range extenders and natural gas powertrains for the North American heavy truck market. The natural gas solution is an important way to achieve zero carbon emissions. Integrating Cummins engines with Hyliion's Hypertruck ERX solution can provide customers with multiple fuel-powered powertrain options, helping them achieve their sustainable development goals."

Hypertruck ERX of Hyliion charges the battery through the generator, achieving a range of up to 1,000 miles. After integrating Cummins' 12N natural gas engine with Hypertruck ERX, users can quickly and economically replenish fuel through 700 natural gas refueling stations across North America.

Hyliion and Cummins are pioneers in the industry using alternative fuel technologies. Their innovative solutions provide more efficient and cost-effective performance while meeting the stringent emission standards of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB), accelerating the industry's transition to zero carbon emissions.

Thomas Healy, the founder and CEO of Hyliion, said: "The two companies share the same vision, dedicated to promoting more sustainable development of truck commercial transportation.
