Safe Operation and Troubleshooting of Hay cutters
Hay cutter is widely used in rural areas. It can not only cut all kinds of fresh hay and straw, but also be used for the processing of livestock grass and silage. It can also return straw to the field and cut green weeds in compost, especially for rural farmers. However, if the hay cutter is not operated properly during use, mechanical failures are very likely to occur, which will affect work efficiency. So, what issues should be noted before use? How can common faults be promptly eliminated after they occur?
Maintenance and operation: Before starting work, it is essential to inspect and adjust all parts of the hay cutter in accordance with the regulations. Only when the requirements are met can the operation be carried out. The moving and fixed blades of the hay cutter should always be kept sharp. Otherwise, they should be removed in time for grinding. The bearings on both sides of the main shaft and the feeding roller shaft have been injected with grease during installation. After one month of use, the above bearings need to be removed, cleaned thoroughly, and then re-lubricated with high-quality grease (good quality grease) before reinstallation and use. Thereafter, they should be lubricated once every month of operation. Other rotating parts should also be frequently lubricated with engine oil during use. In addition, it is necessary to frequently inspect whether the components of the hay cutter are severely worn or loose, especially the working parts and rotating parts. If any damage, severe wear or looseness is found, they should be replaced, repaired and tightened in time to avoid major accidents. When the machine is not in use, the dust and dirt on its surface should be wiped off. If the machine is parked outdoors, it should be covered with tarpaulin to prevent rusting.
Common troubleshooting: During operation, if the forage between the upper and lower feeding rollers of the hay cutter gets clogged, the main cause of the fault is excessive feeding volume, which leads to grass blockage and entanglement between the lower feeding roller and the bridge. The troubleshooting method is as follows: After stopping the machine, manually reverse the large pulley of the main shaft, and the blocked grass will be discharged accordingly. Then, clear the grass stuck and entangled in the feeding roller thoroughly. If the grass sections cut out are too long, it is mainly because the gap between the moving and fixed blades is large, or the cutting edges of the moving and fixed blades are not sharp enough. When troubleshooting, you can adjust the cutting gap to make it smaller and sharpen the blade to keep the cutting edge sharp.
