Sustainable treatment of stone pavements

This Wirtgen WRC 240(i) gravel regeneration machine, specially designed for handling stony pavement layers, has expanded the product range of wheeled soil stabilizers. This machine can not only crush rocks and stones with a side length of up to 300mm and a compressive strength as high as 200MPa, but also add cement and water simultaneously.

The Wirtgen WRC 240(i) crusher is capable of crushing, processing and homogenizing hard rock, concrete fragments, pebbles and block stone pavements

For instance, when used for base preparation, the cement is first pre-spread using a binder spreader, and then the required water is sprayed into the mixing bin of the equipment through the variable spray rod of the crushed stone recycling machine. In addition, this machine can also be used for soil stabilization. When it is used as a soil stabilizer, the pre-spread binder (such as lime or cement) is mixed into the existing soil with poor bearing capacity, converted into high-quality road-building materials on the spot, and then evenly placed behind the machine.

The main task of WRC is to granulate and mix various soil and structural layers to produce uniform finished products. In contrast to milling and replacing materials, the process features here are shortening the construction period, conserving resources and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

Newly developed - Crushing and mixing rotor

The robust, durable and resilient crushing and mixing rotor, equipped with the HT18 knife seat specially developed for crushing construction applications, ensures an ideal crushing effect during stone pavement construction. This cutting tool is equipped with a large and impact-resistant hard alloy cutting edge, and the base is protected by an enhanced wear-resistant protective element.

This ensures the high utilization rate and construction reliability of the machine under difficult working conditions. The sturdy edge guard can reduce the wear in the annular edge area of the rotor. The rotor is driven by a transmission specially developed for WRC, achieving high-speed rotation of the rotor.

Rotor housing with armor

To ensure long-term resistance to the huge stress encountered during rock crushing, the rotor casing of the rock crusher is lined with wear-resistant plates made of extremely tough high-strength steel. These ensure a longer service life and enhance the overall stability of the cover. The entire mixing silo is lined with these highly wear-resistant plates, which can be replaced separately if necessary.

The vertical stacking of WRC 240(i) and the hydraulically adjustable classification screen ensure that the crushing construction in the rotor housing only outputs materials of the required particle size

Achieve uniform particle size in all construction applications

WRC 240(i) offers a variety of setting options to ensure the desired particle size and consistent uniform distribution in a wide range of construction applications. The nine-speed setting, adjustable crushing grades, replaceable screens, serialized screen sizes, adjustable distance from the rotor, adjustable rotor scraper pressure and machine traveling speed enable the machine configuration to meet the actual on-site construction conditions and the requirements of the required applications.

Digital auxiliary systems improve construction quality

By achieving precise automatic steering, the satellite-based automatic steering control system (AutoTrac) helps the WRC gravel recycling machine achieve higher construction efficiency, thereby realizing better environmental compatibility.

The system precisely controls the machine within a tolerance range of a few centimeters based on the previously calculated reference construction width and the specified overlap of adjacent construction widths, thereby ensuring the consistency of the ideal working width of the machine. The Wirtgen Performance Output Tracking and Recording System (WPT) records information about machines and construction parameters, providing a comprehensive database for on-site analysis and documentation.
