PACCAR will collaborate with Cummins to install Cummins 15N natural gas engines

PACCAR will collaborate with Cummins to install Cummins 15N natural gas engines on its Kenworth and Peterbilt brand trucks. The 15N natural gas engine is specially designed for heavy-duty trucks, with an output power of up to 500 horsepower and integrated with Cummins' latest clean fuel delivery system.

John Rich, Chief Technology Officer of Peca, said: "With proven engine technology and relying on existing infrastructure, Peca can provide customers with sustainable and economical power solutions to help them achieve their business goals."

Peka will join hands with Cummins and collaborate with multiple clients such as FedEx Freight and Knight-Swift to showcase the significant potential of internal combustion engine technology in reducing emissions during long-distance transportation.

Srikanth Padmanabhan, Vice President of Cummins and President of the Engine Division, said: "The 15N natural gas engine is an important product for us to help customers reduce nitrogen oxide emissions and achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions." Relying on over 50 years of profound experience in natural gas application, the 15N natural gas engine can help customers reduce the cost of applying low-carbon technologies in their fleets, and customers are full of confidence in this.

Kenwochi and Peterbilt brand trucks equipped with 15N engines can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the vehicle's life cycle when using renewable natural gas (RNG or biomethane) as fuel. Greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by 90% to 100%, achieving "carbon neutrality" or even "negative carbon" emissions.

The nitrogen oxide emission level of the Cummins 15N natural gas engine is extremely low, meeting the strict emission standards of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)2024 and the California Air Resources Board (CARB). In addition, the peak torque of the 15N engine in the North American market is as high as 1,850 ft-lbs(2508N·m), and it can be deeply integrated with the Eaton Cummins transmission, providing users with excellent power performance.
