The hedge cutting system is a core device used in landscaping for efficient pruning of shrubs, tea trees, hedges and other plants. Its working principle, structural composition, type characteristics and key points of maintenance and care are as follows

I. Working Principle

The hedge cutting system achieves cutting by driving the blade through a power source. The core principle can be divided into two categories:


Reciprocating cutting

The power source (gasoline engine or electric motor) drives the piston to make reciprocating motion in the cylinder. Through the connecting rod mechanism, the linear motion of the piston is converted into the reciprocating linear motion of the blade.

The blade edge frequently cuts into the hedge branches, using its sharpness to cut the branches. With a high frequency, continuous pruning can be achieved.

Rotary cutting

The power source drives the rotating shaft to rotate at high speed, and circular blades (usually a disc-shaped combination of multiple blades) are installed on the shaft.

The high-speed rotation of the blade generates a powerful shearing force, cutting branches like an electric saw, making it suitable for large-scale pruning.

Ii. Structural Composition

The hedge cutting system mainly consists of the following parts:


Power system

Gasoline engine: Suitable for outdoor scenarios without power supply, it has strong power but requires regular maintenance (such as changing engine oil and cleaning spark plugs).

Electric motors: They are divided into lithium battery type and AC type. The lithium battery type is highly portable and not restricted by external wiring, making it suitable for complex terrains such as courtyards and slopes. The alternating current type is suitable for fixed-site operations.

Transmission system

Including gearboxes, connecting rod mechanisms, etc., it transmits power from the engine or motor to the blade, ensuring smooth and efficient cutting actions.

Cutting component

Blade: It is divided into straight blade and arc blade. The high-strength double-edge design can handle dense and thick branches, ensuring smooth cutting without any jamming.

Blade clearance: It needs to be adjusted regularly to keep the cutting edge sharp and ensure cutting quality.

Control system

The handheld hedge trimmer is controlled by an operation switch to start and stop the power, and the operator manually moves the position and direction of the machine.

Vehicle-mounted or large hedge trimmers are equipped with operation control consoles, through which the cutting tools can be raised and lowered, the machine can move forward and backward, and the steering can be controlled by joysticks or buttons. Some models adopt hydraulic or electric control systems to achieve precise operation.

Handheld hedge trimmer

Features: Lightweight and flexible, suitable for pruning in family courtyards and small green belts.

Category

Single-edge hedge trimmer: It has a relatively low cutting efficiency, but it is affordable and suitable for light use.

Double-edged hedge trimmer: High cutting efficiency, suitable for large-scale pruning or fine shaping.

Vehicle-mounted hedge trimmer

Features: Strong power, excellent mobility, can be installed on vehicles for rapid transportation, suitable for scenarios such as highways and large parks.

Advantages

The guiding device ensures the straightness and accuracy of operation and reduces the impact on the road surface.

Electric hedge trimmer

Features: Environmentally friendly and energy-saving, low noise, simple maintenance, suitable for indoor use or places sensitive to noise.

Category

Lithium battery type: It is highly portable and not restricted by external wiring, but its battery life is limited.

Ac type: Long battery life, but requires an external power supply and has a limited range of movement.

Iv. Key Points for Maintenance and Care

Daily inspection

Check if the screws are loose, especially the screws that fix the blade, to prevent them from falling off and causing safety hazards.

Clean the dust and dirt off the blade and keep the cutting edge sharp.

Check whether the air pipe (pneumatic model) or the wire (electric model) is aged or damaged, and replace them in time.

Regular maintenance

Gasoline engine model: Regularly change the engine oil, clean the air filter, and check the condition of the spark plugs.

Motor model: Check the insulation performance of the motor and clean the dust from the motor's heat dissipation holes.

Adjust the blade clearance to ensure smooth cutting without any jamming.

Lubricate the transmission components (such as gearboxes and connecting rod mechanisms) to reduce wear.

Long-term management

Establish maintenance files to record the time and results of each inspection, cleaning, and component replacement.

Store in a dry and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and damp environments.

Replace it in time after reaching the service life to avoid an increase in the failure rate.
