Recently, Yuchai Marine Engine, a subsidiary of Yuchai Group, successfully delivered and inspected a YCMP-WINGD 5RT-Flex50DF low-speed dual-fuel engine, which was classified as DNV-GL. It will be installed on the current world's largest LNG fuel bunkering vessel - a 20,000 cubic meter LNG transport bunkering vessel undertaken by Nantong CIMC SOE (referred to as CIMC SOE), and the shipowner is Stolt Nielsen, the world's largest chemical shipowner.

This handover inspection was conducted for the first time in a synchronous online and offline manner, achieving a cloud handover inspection. Due to the impact of the epidemic, the shipowner's representative was unable to be present at the scene in person. They could only participate in the entire handover process remotely through network data transmission in Norway, and the engine parameters were transmitted remotely in real time. Representatives from CIMC SOE, Shanghai Weima Ship Management Co., LTD., CIMC Ship & Marine Engineering Design & Research Institute, DNV-GL Classification Society and other units participated in this handover and inspection on site.

LNG carriers are the most difficult super cargo ships to build in the world and are regarded as one of the three "jewels on the crown" of the shipbuilding industry. Because it has to transport LNG at a low temperature of minus 163 degrees Celsius, this vessel is also known as the "sea super refrigerated truck". Once the LNG on a large LNG carrier leaks and is ignited, its power is comparable to that of a nuclear bomb. LNG bunkering vessels are an important part of the LNG equipment industry chain. As they involve the storage of a large amount of LNG, the requirements for construction techniques and engine reliability are equally strict.

With rich experience in manufacturing dual-fuel engines, as well as meticulous preparation and careful planning, the handover inspection this time went very smoothly. All test items were passed at the first attempt, and all index parameters met the design requirements. The personnel participating in the handover inspection highly praised the product quality and "appearance level" of Yuchai Marine Power's dual-fuel engines.

Yuchai Marine Power is the world's first main engine manufacturer to produce RT-flex50DF low-speed dual-fuel engines. Previously, it has successfully delivered 8 RT-flex50DF engines to domestic and foreign users, which have been installed on LNG carriers, chemical tankers and container ships, etc. The use and operation of the products have been highly recognized by domestic and foreign customers. It ranks first in the world in terms of the delivery and order volume of 50DF engines.

This is also the 9th low-speed dual-fuel engine successfully delivered and inspected by Yuchai Marine Power, once again demonstrating the ultra-hardcore and reliable manufacturing technology of Yuchai's low-speed dual-fuel engines.

The YCMP-WINGD 5RT-Flex50DF low-speed dual-fuel engine has a cylinder bore of 0.5 meters, a stroke of 2.05 meters, an overall height of 8.3 meters, a weight of 200 tons, and a rated power of 6000kW.

This model can operate stably in gas mode throughout the entire load range. The fuel and gas modes can be switched smoothly and directly. In the gas mode based on the lean-burn principle (Otto cycle), sulfur oxides and particulate matter are almost zero, and it can meet the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III emission standards without any post-treatment measures.

This type of main engine also adopts a low-pressure gas supply system with a pressure not exceeding 16 bar. While meeting the emission requirements of environmental protection regulations, it is conducive to the safe and stable operation of the vessel.
