Fiat Powertrain Technologies is honored to be the first recipient of the "Alternative Fuel Engine Award" : The jury of International Powertrain magazine believes that the brand's XCURSOR 13, as the best example of the overall vision for future mobility, has won this new award from the organization, confirming the importance of multi-fuel applications in internal combustion engines on the road to decarbonization. The award ceremony was held during the latest EIMA International Agricultural and Garden Machinery Exhibition in Bologna, Italy.

This award was established for the first time to recognize the value of "multi-fuel engines", which possess the basic characteristics of internal combustion engines such as application diversity and adaptability to different fuels. This will play an important role in the future to address future emission challenges.

The "Alternative Fuel Engine Award" jury believes that the XCURSOR 13 can provide all these elements. This engine is Fiat Powertrain Technologies' first multi-fuel engine with the same bare-metal hardware. The fuels that can be used include diesel, natural gas (including biomethane that can achieve zero emissions), hydrogen and renewable fuels. The XCURSOR 13 can meet a wide range of market demands and different vehicle installation requirements. It is a major contributor to achieving carbon dioxide emission targets and one of the most important parts of Fiat Powertrain Technologies' decarbonization plan. This product is based on multi-fuel applications and aims to provide customers with the best ready-to-use products.

The latest version of XCURSOR 13 starts with General Motors' core components, based on an improved 13-liter engine structure to meet current carbon dioxide reduction targets and prepare for future regulations. It covers multiple market segments as well as road and off-road applications, combining high performance with weight reduction, lower fuel consumption, extended durability and reduced total cost of ownership.

Daniele Pozzo, the head of marketing and product management at Fiat Powertrain Technologies, said: "We are proud of this significant achievement of the XCURSOR 13." Winning the first "Alternative Fuel Engine Award" proves that the decision to invest in multi-fuel applications was correct. XCURSOR 13 plays a key role in this strategy because of its versatility in multiple fuels and the potential to take the lead in both road and off-road applications. The extensive work done in the development and continuous improvement of this engine will surely enable it to play a leading role in the future and meet market demands and changes at any time.

Fabio Butturi, the editor of International Powertrain, commented: It is not surprising that Fiat Powertrain Technologies won the first "Alternative Fuel Engine Award". Its electronic management system can be traced back to the early days of common rail development. As a pioneer in the field of natural gas applications, Fiat Powertrain Technologies' launch of CURSOR X marks the birth of the multi-fuel concept. The XCURSOR 13 adopts a shared crankcase and many common components, and can choose diesel, compressed natural gas or hydrogen as fuel according to specific applications.
