I. Overview

With the country's large-scale investment in infrastructure construction and the sharp increase in the demand for sand, gravel and other stone materials in infrastructure, wheel loaders have gradually become the main mechanical equipment for stone loading and unloading and other operations in quarries and stone yards. How to bring out the good performance of machinery and improve work efficiency under complex and changeable environmental conditions and special working conditions? XCMG has conducted extensive market research. Based on the environmental characteristics and working conditions requirements of special working conditions in quarries, stone quarries, and sand and gravel yards, XCMG has developed the LW541F wheel loader. We have designed and developed the XCMG LW541F rock and sand and gravel type loader, which is suitable for sand working conditions such as mining and loading and unloading of stone materials after secondary blasting.

Iii. Structure and Characteristics of Main Components

(1) Engine system

Due to the high density of dust in environments such as quarries and stone quarries, the particle size of dust particles is large, which seriously affects the intake of the engine and causes premature wear of the engine piston, cylinder liner, etc.

The Weichai WD615 series engine was selected. A dual-filter air filter was added to the engine's intake system, effectively removing particles ranging from 5um to 40um that pose the greatest threat to engine wear. This significantly improved the engine's intake environment, effectively reduced the early wear of the engine, and enhanced the overall power performance and economy of the machine.

(2) Frame and working device

The rock working conditions are rather harsh, which places high demands on the strength of the vehicle frame. Finite element analysis of structural components is conducted by using analysis software in combination with market feedback to optimize the stress distribution, thereby enhancing the reliability of the frame.

Due to its long-term use in conditions with high density such as solid soil and ores, the bucket, as the main part of the loader's working device, comes into contact with the working object (soil, sand and gravel, etc.) during operation and is subject to various loads and factors such as fatigue, wear and corrosion. Especially, wear resistance is one of the factors to test the comprehensive performance of the bucket. The LW541F rock and gravel loader bucket has been rationally optimized in structure to reduce the cutting resistance when the bucket inserts into the material, further lower the friction between the bucket teeth and the cutting edge, and thereby enhance the overall wear resistance of the bucket. In addition, the bucket teeth, side cutting edges, guard plates, etc. are made of special wear-resistant steel, which greatly enhances the wear resistance of the material.

(3) Improvements in handling comfort and the sealing performance of the cab

Due to the large amount of dust in the working environment, the sealing performance of the cab has been improved based on the people-oriented design concept, providing the driver with a comfortable and pleasant working environment. Due to the harsh working conditions and significant vibration, the safety and vibration resistance of the cab have been fully enhanced during the design process.

(4) Metal machine cover

As the rock-type loader operates in environments such as quarries and stone quarries, on the basis of maintaining the overall style of XCMG Type 1 F series loaders, this machine adopts a metal engine hood, which greatly enhances the strength of the hood and significantly improves its maintainability.

(5) Braking system

The braking system of loaders is highly demanding in working conditions such as rocks and sand and gravel. Due to the uneven working environment in mountainous areas and quarries, frequent service braking causes the temperature of the brake discs to rise, resulting in thermal decay of the friction coefficient of the brake friction pads, reducing the torque generated by friction and lowering the performance of the braking system. The reliability of braking is enhanced by adding a water spray device to the braking system and providing irregular cooling.

The LW541F rock and gravel loader, with its flexible mobility, strong adaptability, high reliability, excellent cost performance and good adaptability to working conditions, greatly meets the demands of a wide range of users for loaders in special working conditions.
