Summer Battle: Air Filter Maintenance Guidelines Known by 99% of experienced Drivers
The main faults caused by dust entering the engine interior are:
1. Severe wear of the four matching parts causes the engine to smoke, lack power and have a large exhaust.
2. Insufficient air intake of the engine caused by damage to the turbocharger blades;
3. Engine oil contamination causes severe wear of the crankshaft bearing, connecting rod bearing and other mating parts of the engine, and even leads to crankshaft seizing.
The pure filter elements produced by Doosan have a very high quality guarantee. These filter elements can ensure the intake air volume of the engine while fully filtering out tiny solid particles in the air, which is an effective guarantee for the safe operation of excavators in harsh environments.
If the excavator has been in operation for 500 hours or the indicator light on the dashboard is on, the air filter should be maintained. The external filter should be cleaned six times or replaced every 2,000 hours of operation of the excavator.
Specific steps for replacing the air filter
First, park the equipment on a flat ground. Let the bucket touch the ground and run the engine at low idle speed for 5 minutes.
2. Turn off the engine and remove the key. (Note that the air filter must not be disassembled while the engine is running. If you use compressed air to clean the filter, wear a protective eye mask.)
3. Open the rear side door of the cab and the filter element end cover, disassemble and clean the rubber vacuum valve at the lower cover of the air filter housing, check if the sealing edge is worn, and replace the valve if necessary.
4. Disassemble the air outer filter element and check if there is any damage to the filter element. If so, please replace it in time. Clean the air outer filter element from the inside out with high-pressure air. Note that the air pressure should not exceed 205 kPa (30 psi). Shine a light on the interior of the outer filter to check if there are any small holes or residual diluent stains on the cleaned filter element. If so, please replace the filter.
5. Disassemble and replace the air inner filter element. Please note that the inner filter is a disposable part. Do not clean or reuse it.
6. Clean the dust inside the shell with a cloth. Note that high-pressure air blowing is strictly prohibited here. Install the inner and outer air filters and the filter end covers correctly, and make sure the arrow marks on the covers are pointing upwards.
Note
When the external filter is cleaned six times or the working time reaches 2000 hours, it needs to be replaced once. When working in harsh environments, the maintenance cycle of the air filter should be appropriately shortened. If necessary, an oil bath pre-filter can be selected, and the engine oil inside the pre-filter should be replaced every 250 hours.
