Allison Transmission has delivered the first batch of the new generation of hydraulic fracturing transmission FracTran
Compatible with dual-fuel engines that use natural gas, and matched with more powerful engines and extended operating times, Allison's FracTran™ transmission achieves a unique combination of versatility, power and efficiency.
As a leading designer and manufacturer of drive solutions for both traditional and electric vehicles, Allison Transmission is pleased to announce that the first batch of new-generation hydraulic fracturing gearboxes, FracTran, have been delivered to multiple fracturing equipment manufacturing partners.
Allison's FracTran is a brand-new series of gearboxes for oil fields. Its design concept is derived from on-site applications in oil Wells, meeting the unique demands of the oil field fracturing industry and enhancing the competitiveness of the global off-road sector, which is continuously growing with an annual revenue of 100 million US dollars. This new-generation solution combines the feedback and suggestions from a wide range of customers with the product condition information analysis accumulated by Allison over decades in global oilfield applications.
"The delivery of the first batch of FracTran gearboxes marks an important milestone in Allison's commitment to achieving the following goal: to bring the dedicated solutions that our energy customers need," said Kartik Ramanan, Executive Director of Global Off-road and Service Engineering at Allison Gearboxes. FracTran will provide the oilfield fracturing fleet with higher sustainability, productivity and profitability, and further reduce the environmental impact.
This robust hydraulic fracturing gearbox will operate in the harshest operating environments, providing unparalleled performance under continuous high-pressure conditions. FracTran has high reliability. The designed service life of the transmission is up to 25,000 hours. During major overhauls, there is no need to replace major components, reducing the total cost of the vehicle.
FracTran is equipped with eight gears and offers a variety of gear ratio options to meet the unique needs of customers. This transmission has a rated input total power of 3,300 horsepower and an input torque of 10,000 pound-feet to meet the current market requirements. In fact, the total input power of this product can reach up to 3,500 horsepower without any hardware modifications. In addition, FracTran also offers filter and transmission fluid life diagnosis, control modules installed on the transmission, torsional vibration diagnosis, and an on-board remote information system.
