SSAB made its debut at the Bauma China in Shanghai, and many of its products were highly recognized by Chinese customers
Our flagship products help Chinese customers upgrade their products
Since entering China in 1998, SSAB has been helping Chinese customers and end users upgrade their products, enabling them to achieve stronger, lighter and more sustainable development efficiency.
For instance, at this "Shanghai Bauma Exhibition", several new products of Hardox® Handa ® wear-resistant steel were showcased, namely Hardox® 500 Tuf steel suitable for truck beds and Hardox® HiAce corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant steel, as well as Hardox® HiTemp high-temperature resistant and wear-resistant steel. Another important brand, Strenx® high-strength structural steel, mainly showcases the high-performance Strenx®1100 Plus steel.
Since its launch, these two flagship products of SSAB have been welcomed and recognized by customers from all walks of life. For instance, the entire series of booms of JLG are made of Strenx® steel, which ensures their lightweight while also being safer.

Since 2018, Shaoguan Crane Factory has been cooperating with SSAB, fully leveraging the latter's technological advantages. For instance, Strenx® 1100E ultra-high strength structural steel is used on the telescopic boom of a 200T folding boom truck crane, featuring an original decagonal telescopic cross-section and lightweight structural design. Strenx® ultra-high/ultra-high strength structural steel is easy to process and weld, featuring super-fine grains and excellent flatness. It has become the standard equipment for 200T /130T large-tonnage folding boom truck cranes at Shaoguan Crane Factory.

Another premium brand, Hardox®, boasts excellent toughness and strength, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of vehicles in harsh industrial and mining conditions, and performs particularly well in cold winters.
As a leading player in China's construction machinery industry, XCMG Group has selected Hardox® as the material for the cargo boxes of its first batch of over 40 240-ton mining trucks this year.
Hardox® 's HiTemp is a high-temperature resistant and wear-resistant steel plate that offers a highly cost-effective wear-resistant solution for temperatures ranging from 300 to 500 degrees Celsius. The high-temperature and wear-resistant bucket made of this material has a service life 2 to 8 times longer than that of traditional buckets in a working environment of 500 degrees Celsius, which can minimize the downtime losses caused by maintenance to the greatest extent.
In fact, the Hardox® wear-resistant steel that made its debut at the "Shanghai Bauma China" is merely a microcosm of SSAB's efforts to serve the Chinese market and assist Chinese customers in upgrading their products. SSAB hopes to continue bringing more, lighter and stronger structures to the Chinese construction machinery market through innovative products and lightweight design.
"Working hand in hand with Chinese clients to achieve success against the market trend.
The outstanding performance of SSAB in China in 2020 was inseparable from the full recognition and trust of customers in SSAB. For instance, 2020 was a year of fruitful cooperation between SSAB and its strategic partner, Qingdao Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. of Sinotruk Group.
Since the joint fight against the epidemic at the beginning of the year to ensure production and supply, both sides have overcome difficulties together and further consolidated the market position of Sinotruk Hardox® In My Body, a high-end special vehicle brand. Meanwhile, both parties have successfully expanded the Hardox® In My Body brand program to the sanitation vehicle and mixer truck series, forming a full series and full family of Hardox® application product lines, thus ensuring that the sales of both Sinotruk and SSAB in the special vehicle industry have reached record highs.
In addition, SSAB has also smoothly cooperated with CIMC Xi 'an Special Vehicles in the field of new energy dump truck assemblies, and has achieved stable batch supply of components to Sany Heavy Industry's Shenyang factory.
All the efforts made by SSAB have also earned the gratitude of its customers. This year, SSAB was honored with the General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award. When presenting the award, Richard Demuynck, Executive Director of Global Supplier Quality and Development at General Motors, emphasized: "During the current special period, we are very grateful for SSAB's understanding and the continuous support it has provided us."
On November 22nd, SSAB was also awarded the Best Quality Award by XCMG Schwing, becoming the only steel company to receive this honor. This award represents XCMG's high recognition of the commitment of SSAB products to zero complaints, zero defects and stable quality.
What is even more worth mentioning is that on November 23rd, at the "Global Construction Machinery T50 (Top 50) Summit" held in Shanghai, SSAB was awarded numerous honors including "Top 50 International Supporting Suppliers of China's Construction Machinery Industry in 2020", "Influential Figure of China's Construction Machinery Supporting Industry", and "2020 Annual Product & Application Award of Construction Machinery Supporting Industry". This marks that SSAB's products and strength in enhancing the upgrading of China's construction machinery industry have been recognized by the industry.
Build a green and fossil-free steel value chain
While providing high-quality products to Chinese customers and partners, SSAB has always been committed to the sustainable utilization and development of Earth's resources, and has become the world's first steel company to carry out fossil-free steelmaking.
With the continuous increase of the world's population and the accelerating process of urbanization, the demand for steel is also increasing day by day. However, the traditional steelmaking process emits a large amount of carbon dioxide, which has a great negative impact on the environment.
Currently, SSAB is collaborating with mining company LKAB and energy company Vattenfall to launch the HYBRIT initiative, aiming to become the world's first factory with a fossil-free steel value chain. HYBRIT plans to use electricity and hydrogen without fossil energy throughout the entire process of mining and manufacturing steel products, thereby reducing Sweden's carbon dioxide emissions by 10%.
Within the framework of the HYBRIT initiative, the LKAB pelletizing plant's trials using fossil fuels have been successful, and the world's first batch of fossil fuel-free iron ore pellets were freshly produced in the middle of this year.
Martin Pei, the Chief Technology Officer of SSAB and the advocate of the HYBRIT project, said: "The current traditional production process is not sustainable." We are revolutionizing the entire industry with the HYBRIT project and introducing new fossil-free steel technologies on an industrial scale.
According to the plan, SSAB will supply fossil-free steel to the global market as early as 2026 and achieve completely fossil-free production of the company by 2045. In the future, related products and technologies will also be implemented in China, making China the "main battlefield" for SSAB to practice sustainable development. SSAB hopes that while promoting the upgrading of China's construction machinery industry, it will also contribute its own strength to the construction of a "Green China".
