Perkins works closely with its clients to get ready for China's non-road emission standards of National IV
For Chinese automakers, the new emission standards are undoubtedly a major change. However, through reasonable planning and cooperation with experienced engine companies such as Perkins, automakers should be able to smoothly achieve the transition. Tommy Quan, Director of Sales and Distribution for Perkins Asia, said.
Perkins has a history of over 87 years. The company has successfully launched products that meet various emission standards such as those of the European Union and the United States, and has been well-prepared for China's non-road National IV emission standards. Moreover, Perkins showcased five engines at the Bauma China International Construction Machinery, Building Materials Machinery, Construction Vehicles and Equipment Exhibition in 2018. These engines were specially designed and all met the new standards.
To comply with China's non-road National IV standards, manufacturers will adopt different post-treatment emission control technologies based on different power segment ranges. In this demanding market, there is no "perfect solution" that can solve all problems. For instance, the technology suitable for 50kW May differ from that suitable for 150kW, and even more so from that suitable for 250kW. Perkins will apply different technologies to various engines across the entire range. These technologies include electronic control, common rail fuel systems, advanced turbocharging, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), and diesel particulate filters (DPF). Diesel Particulate Filter.

"One very important point is that you should not think this is simply adding post-treatment technology to the existing Chinese non-road National III engines," Tommy said. To ensure that the original equipment manufacturers (Oems) can have efficient, durable and fuel-efficient machines, it is necessary to design and integrate a variety of different technologies to provide appropriate solutions.
Perkins has extensive experience in the production and delivery of low-emission engines and compact after-treatment technologies, and has accumulated approximately 1.3 billion hours of non-road application experience in DPF technologies that meet Euro IV and US EPA Tier 4 Final requirements.

Perkins will offer customers a variety of engines that meet China's non-road National IV emission standards, with displacements ranging from 0.7 to 18 liters and a maximum power output of 470 kW. In addition to meeting emission standards, the new engine series also offers Oems significant performance advantages, including higher power density and torque, enabling them to provide greater power to their machines in a compact installation size and allowing for flexible installation of post-treatment components on or near the engine.
"Tommy said, 'We have great confidence in the performance and durability of our Chinese non-road engine that meets the National IV emission standards. This engine will also strive to enhance the productivity of the equipment of the original equipment manufacturer through after-treatment technology and DPF contactless regeneration technology.'"
Worldwide, emission standards are becoming increasingly complex. The original equipment manufacturers (Oems) hope to sell machines in multiple regions to maintain business stability and achieve growth. However, the cost of designing different models for each region undoubtedly affects the sustainable development of the business. For automakers hoping to achieve simultaneous growth in both domestic and export businesses, an important factor worth considering is that all the 0.7 to 18-liter engines provided by Perkins to its customers that meet China's non-road National IV emission standards have been designed as modular products. Therefore, engines with different emission standards and fuel technology specifications can be installed in the same way. Moreover, the key point is that the engine performance and overall machine integration remain consistent. As a result, Oems can use a single model design to meet all emission requirements, thereby saving funds and engineering time.
"For 87 years, we have been manufacturing engines for construction, agricultural and industrial machinery, with a total of over 21 million units," said Jaz Gill, Vice President of global sales, marketing, service and parts at Perkins. We are all true experts in non-road applications, understanding how real machines operate under harsh conditions. All of our technologies have been meticulously designed and proven in practice to be capable of withstanding many of the high temperatures, high vibrations and high loads that may be encountered on construction sites or in the wild.
He went on to say, "Furthermore, we have been closely cooperating with Chinese automakers for nearly 15 years, and they continue to demand that we provide high-quality products." During the implementation stage of China's non-road National IV emission standards, this will remain unchanged to ensure that it has reliable models. The original equipment manufacturer needs to select an engine supplier who is responsible for designing, manufacturing and maintaining the engine to meet high-quality standards.
We know that we have an experienced team to manufacture and integrate these optimized engines. These engines adopt mature technologies and compact after-treatment devices. Moreover, we have a powerful network covering all parts of China. They are Foshan Sundarme Weijia Power Equipment Co., Ltd. and Lixinghang Machinery Co., LTD., both of which can provide services and continuous support for this latest generation of engines.
