To reduce the impact of exhaust emissions on the environment, various international emission regulations are constantly being upgraded, and the requirements are becoming increasingly strict. In 2023, the US Environmental Protection Agency issued the EPA2027 emission standard, which once again significantly reduced nitrogen oxide emissions and became an extremely strict emission regulation.

As a global pioneer in power technology, Cummins continuously optimizes and upgrades its engine platform. On March 5th, Cummins announced an upgrade to its B-series engine platform and launched the all-new Cummins B7.2 diesel engine at the NTE-A Truck Week in Indianapolis.

Cummins B-series engines have a long history and enjoy a global reputation. Indiana is also the headquarters of Cummins. We are very proud to launch the all-new generation of B-series diesel engines at home. The B-series is one of the representative platforms for the reliability of Cummins engines. The B7.2 introduces new technologies and, together with other mid-sized engines, forms a product line that ensures both power performance and reliability. It can also provide customers with power options that suit their business needs.

The B7.2 diesel engine is also the next-generation engine of the B-series HELM™ platform. Following the B6.7 Octane engine, it will apply advanced multi-fuel engine technology and serve a variety of medium-sized and special-purpose vehicles, including buses, trucks, engineering vehicles, sanitation vehicles, trailers, etc.

This new engine is developed globally, increasing the displacement to 7.2 liters. It features outstanding performance and durability, and can also ensure that customers' vehicles can meet the challenges of future emission upgrades. Moreover, a higher displacement also brings a wider range of torque output, providing more flexibility in different applications and working conditions. The B7.2 engine will be produced at Cummins' Rocky Mountain Engine plant and is expected to start full-scale production in North America in 2027.

For over 40 years, our customers have been using B-series engines to meet their work requirements. More importantly, we can provide the reliability and power that customers expect, while also creating an engine that can be used continuously in the future.

The B7.2 will simultaneously unlock the upper and lower limits of power, offering 240-340 horsepower and 881-1356 N · m of torque. In addition, the new engine is equipped with automatic shutdown and start-stop functions, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It also offers in-cylinder compression braking and oil pan options with long oil change intervals.

It will also be equipped with Cummins' full range of digital technologies to enhance engine performance, maximize availability and reduce total operating costs. Through Acumen® Cummins intelligent computing hardware and the OEM first configuration solution, B7.2 can achieve digital connection, allowing immediate access to a series of applications and functions. Enhance the driving experience of customers through a series of digital tools such as road condition prediction and remote service functions. Meanwhile, B7.2 also has a maintenance monitoring function, which can reduce the number of maintenance visits to the station and lower operating costs.

At the NTEA Truck Week in Indianapolis, Cummins also showcased three other engines: the B6.7 Octane gasoline engine, the 2025 6.7L heavy-duty pickup diesel engine, and the X10 engine that redefines performance and efficiency. Among them, the X10 is also a HELM™ platform engine that meets the EPA2027 standard. This engine combines the performance of a heavy-duty engine with the size of a medium-sized one, featuring outstanding engine efficiency and can replace the previous generation L9 and X12 engines.
