The moment limiter renovation acceptance of the 4,200-ton crane vessel "Yuhang 58"
Recently, the full-line renovation project of the 4,200-ton crane vessel "Yuhang 58" undertaken by Weite Technology Co., Ltd. successfully completed the counterweight tests of light load, full load and heavy load, and passed the expert review meeting on the same day at one go. Currently, "Yuhang 58" has been reborn and is setting sail for the sea again!
Jiangsu Yuhang Marine Engineering Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as Yuhang Company) is a comprehensive enterprise specializing in Marine engineering, port and bridge engineering, shipbuilding, towing transportation and salvage operation services. We now have over 20 types of vessels, including large and small full-rotation floating crane engineering vessels, high-power tugboats, three-purpose workboats and large-tonnage self-propelled deck barges.
The crane vessel "Yuhang 58"
The "Yuhang 58" has participated in the construction of many domestic offshore wind power projects. This includes the construction project of the 300MW offshore wind power substation in Jiangjiasha, Jiangsu Province by Longyuan, the construction project of the wind turbine foundation piles for the 900,000-kilowatt offshore wind power project in Jieyang by State Power Investment Corporation, the construction project of the offshore substation in Zhuanghe, Dalian, Liaoning Province by Three Gorges, the construction project of the Yangxi Shapa offshore wind farm by Three Gorges, and the construction project of the offshore substation on Nanpeng Island by China General Nuclear Power Corporation, etc. It is one of the main vessels in offshore wind power projects.
On September 13, 2020, a crane vessel that was engaged in the installation of single-pile foundations at the CGN Houhu Offshore Wind Farm in Shanwei, Guangdong Province, suddenly broke its crane boom due to a "runaway pile". After the boom fell down, it was in a bent state. In this accident, the 1,800-ton steel pipe pile lifted by the crane vessel slipped away. The instantaneous weight would exceed five or ten times the original weight, pulling the braking system of the boom crane to reverse and causing damage and breakage to the boom.
"Runaway pile" is one of the typical problems encountered in the installation of offshore wind power pile foundations. It refers to the phenomenon of uncontrolled rapid subsidence of piles when they penetrate into certain weak soil layers under the self-weight of the pile hammers or with a small number of hammer strikes. "Runaway piles" may cause hazards such as steel wire rope breakage, damage to pile driving hammers, damage to pile bodies, and even abandonment.
To prevent similar "pile sliding" incidents from happening again, after returning to the Yuhang Shipyard, the "Yuhang 58" underwent a full-scale upgrade and renovation. They also contacted the sales manager and technical engineers of Weite to conduct on-site inspections to understand the installation positions of the sensors and the specific route direction. They rationally planned and formulated a complete set of solutions and custom-made a complete set of equipment for the update. The technicians of Weite worked closely with the on-site engineers to overcome adverse factors such as weather and environment. The installation task of the torque limiter has been perfectly completed! After eight months of accumulation, the "Yuhang 58" has been reborn!
Weite WTL-A700 torque limiter
The main products of Weite used in the full-line renovation of the "Yuhang 58" include: the new WFS-2 wind speed sensor, JD-180R Angle sensor, custom three-pulley force sensor, WTL-A700 torque limiter, etc.
The WTL-A700 moment limiter equipped by Weite for the "Yuhang 58" is a high-end crane safety monitoring device with multiple functions, high performance and intelligent human-machine interaction. It is mainly used for monitoring complex signals of lifting equipment on offshore platforms.
During the installation process, technicians from Weite and engineers from Jiangsu Yuhang conducted on-site multi-point calibration of the actual amplitude and weight of the "Yuhang 58" to ensure the accuracy of the tonnage at different angles, thereby enhancing the reliability of the Yuhang 58's lifting capacity!
SHL weight sensor, Angle sensor and wind speed sensor
In addition, three-pulley sensors custom-made according to different wire rope diameters and tensile forces are widely used in Marine cranes, anchor winches for force or force and length measurement, to detect the tensile force of the wire rope in real time and provide safety overload protection.
The new WFS-2 wind speed sensor used by the "Yuhang 58" this time converts the wind velocity into the mechanical rotational speed through the cooperation of the wind cup, imported bearings and their accessories, and then converts it into an electrical signal through the internal non-contact magnetic sensor to achieve the electrical signal detection of wind speed. The product shell is made of improved engineering plastic, which is elegant and stylish, heat-resistant, low-temperature resistant, waterproof and anti-corrosive, with excellent electrical performance and high precision. It is widely used in various fields.
The JD-180 Angle sensor consists of a potentiometer and a pendulum. It can be installed on the crane's boom. The Angle of the boom to the ground is measured by the heavy hammer driving the potentiometer to rotate, and the corresponding voltage value is output. This Angle gauge is widely used in luffing cranes. Easy and convenient to install with high precision!
After meticulous planning, careful arrangement and precise implementation, the "Yuhang 58" successfully completed the counterweight tests of light load, full load and heavy load, with a maximum lifting capacity of 4,200 tons! On the same day, it passed the expert review meeting at one go. Currently, the "Yuhang 58" has set off for Changle, Fujian Province to carry out wind power installation tasks!
In addition, Weite also provided safety protection devices for the "Yuhang 03", "Yuhang 28", "Yuhang 32", as well as the 25-ton gantry cranes and 300-ton gantry cranes within the shipyard. In the future, Weite will continue to focus on research in the field of crane safety management and provide customers with reliable safety management solutions!
