JCB hydrogen internal combustion engines will make a grand appearance at the 2025 Bauma China in Germany
JCB Powertrain will make a grand appearance at the Bauma Munich exhibition from April 7th to 13th, 2025, showcasing its leading position in the hydrogen energy field with hydrogen internal combustion engines.
JCB is the first construction machinery company to develop a fully hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine. For this reason, JCB's R&D team of over 150 engineers has devoted more than three years to this exciting project that cost 100 million pounds.
JCB has produced over 130 test engines, which are currently being installed on backhoe loaders, telescopic boom forklift trucks and generator sets for various tests. Hydrogen internal combustion engines are also applicable to multiple industry fields. Demonstrations of these application scenarios will be presented at booth A4.115.
JCB will also showcase a complete JCB powertrain solution, including diesel engines, gearboxes and axles developed and designed by JCB. This complete drive system based on the technologically mature 448 Stage V engine can be provided as an independent unit or component to original equipment manufacturers (Oems) to meet the specific power requirements of their equipment.
The engine and drive system expert team of JCB Power Systems will provide technical consulting services throughout the exhibition, discussing the personalized needs of manufacturers and customers from the perspectives of engineering design and sales.
JCB has cleared major obstacles in the development of its first hydrogen internal combustion engine and has received landmark approvals from 11 licensing authorities in Europe, allowing it to be used in commercial machines. As of now, the actual testing of JCB hydrogen power equipment at the customer's site has entered an advanced stage and is progressing smoothly.
