The X6130 diesel engine is one of the power models for vehicles independently designed and manufactured in China, with nearly a thousand units in Xinjiang region. Some models of automobiles such as Hongyan and Huanghe are equipped with X6130 diesel engines as their main engines. After a period of use, it was found that the early wear of its cylinder liner was quite severe, causing the diesel engine to consume too much oil, smoke, and insufficient power, etc., which brought many inconveniences to production. After investigation, research and analysis, it is believed that the main reasons for the early wear of the cylinder liner of this type of diesel engine during its use in Xinjiang region are as follows.

Incorrect usage and operation

1. Using engine oil of an inappropriate brand grade

Some drivers lack basic knowledge about oil and are confused about the brand and grade of engine oil, adding the wrong type of oil, which leads to poor lubrication effect.

2. Unclean air enters the cylinder

In Xinjiang region, the wind and sand are relatively strong, and the air filter is prone to getting dirty and clogged. When the air intake is insufficient, causing the engine to emit black smoke and have insufficient power, some drivers do not clean the air filter filler but remove the air filter element and air alarm, allowing the air to enter the cylinder directly without filtration. This not only causes abrasive wear of the cylinder liner but also pollutes the engine oil. It will accelerate the wear rate of other components.

3. Cold start

The temperature difference between the north and south of Xinjiang is relatively large in winter. Vehicles that frequently drive in the south of Xinjiang often fail to change the winter engine oil on time in winter. When starting the engine in the cold north of Xinjiang, they do not preheat it. At this time, it is very easy for the cylinder liner and piston of the engine to have cylinder pulling and sticking phenomena, causing early wear of the cylinder liner. In addition, forcibly starting the engine with starting fluid in winter is also one of the reasons for the early wear of the cylinder liner.

Poor quality of accessories

It is not uncommon for components to wear out prematurely or even be scrapped due to quality issues of accessories. One of the reasons for the early wear of the cylinder liner is that the content of trace elements in the raw materials does not meet the requirements and the surface treatment of the inner wall is poor, which leads to defects in the quality of the cylinder. During use, a batch of piston rings were found. Due to the overly long inner spring of the combined oil ring, the oil ring scraped the oil too clean when the piston moved down, resulting in premature wear of the cylinder liner.

Poor repair quality

Whether or not the quality of repair is emphasized has a significant impact on the service life of components. Frequent halving and harsh working conditions allow dirt particles to enter the cylinder and be adsorbed on the gas wall, which can easily cause cylinder pulling or abrasive wear on the cylinder wall. In addition, during the repair work, if the bending and torsion of the connecting rod and the wear of the crankshaft thrust plate are not carefully inspected, it often leads to the imitation wear of the cylinder liner.

The function of the lubrication components has declined or failed

The cylinder liner of the X6130 diesel engine is lubricated by the splashed oil from the crankshaft connecting rod and the pressure of the oil nozzle. If the oil pump's pumping capacity weakens, the lubrication pipeline leaks, or the oil is too dirty and blocks the oil nozzle, it often leads to insufficient lubrication of the cylinder liner and poor cooling effect of the piston, causing premature wear of the cylinder liner. In addition, the engine oil nozzle assembly is installed on the auxiliary oil passage. Before the engine oil enters the auxiliary oil passage, the auxiliary oil passage pressure limiting valve needs to be opened. When the auxiliary oil passage pressure limiting valve fails, the pressure in both the main and auxiliary oil passages will drop, resulting in poor lubrication of the lubricated components and premature wear of the cylinder.
