The Yuchai K16 powerful engine, with a displacement of 16L, can do the work of a 17L engine with a fuel consumption of only 13L, and has gained widespread favor in the market. When a mining truck is heavily loaded and going downhill, the load is huge. Relying solely on the braking system for braking can lead to severe wear of brake pads, insufficient braking force, and high braking risks. Therefore, an auxiliary braking system - engine braking (in-cylinder braking or exhaust braking) and a vehicle hydraulic retarder - needs to be introduced. When going downhill, the driver needs to manually activate them to reduce the speed.

It takes ensuring vehicle safety as the top priority and combines the more advanced second-generation in-cylinder braking with Yuchai's most advanced intelligent electronic control technology to create the Yuchai AI intelligent braking system. At present, this system has been declared and can automatically determine whether the engine is in reverse drag or overspeed based on the operating conditions of the engine and the entire vehicle. Once the rotational speed reaches the set value, the ECU automatically activates the in-cylinder braking and hydraulic retarder to increase the braking force, thereby achieving the purpose of controlling the rotational speed.

The K16 Powerful Engine has been mass-applied with Yuchai's AI intelligent braking system, which can automatically trigger the in-cylinder braking and hydraulic retarder, and perform coordinated control of the hydraulic retarder and in-cylinder braking. The braking effect is quite remarkable. After applying this technology, the situation of engine overspeed has been significantly improved. The operating time of Zoomlion mining vehicles at speeds above 2300 RPM has been reduced by more than 76%, and the operating time between 200 and 2300 RPM has been reduced by 49%.
