Recently, Cummins announced that its full range of diesel generator sets can use

Recently, Cummins announced that its full range of diesel generator sets can use paraffin fuel (EN15940), including hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO), in standby applications. This is one of the innovative solutions that Cummins has been continuously introducing with a focus on its decarbonization goals, once again demonstrating the company's firm commitment to achieving industry-leading emission standards through technological progress.

Vipul Tandon, Executive Director of Global Business at Cummins Power, said: "Our customers are making continuous progress in decarbonization, and Cummins is committed to helping them achieve their sustainable development goals." We help our customers achieve this goal by operating generator sets with HVO fuel to reduce their carbon footprint.

The raw materials for HVO and biodiesel are the same, but it is produced through a hydrogenation process rather than an transesterification process, which helps to enhance its oxidation stability. It has a very low life cycle carbon emission and is an attractive sustainable fuel. When operating generator sets through HVO, the component emissions are comparable to or lower than those of diesel, and both existing emission data sheets and EPA Level 2 certifications are applicable. In addition, this fuel is not conducive to bacterial growth, and thus is suitable for applications where fuel needs to be stored for a long time, including backup power supply applications. HVO is also compatible. It can be mixed with diesel in any proportion, thus simplifying the transition between existing facilities and diesel-loaded generator sets.

Cummins will continue to closely collaborate with industry partners to develop solutions that meet the industry's demand for reliable and sustainable power. Cummins has collaborated with Microsoft at its data center sites in Des Moines, Iowa and Phoenix, Arizona to provide fuel for the QSK95 generator set through HVO fuel, verifying its performance and reliability.

With a history of over a hundred years, Cummins has rich experience in combining mature power system solutions with innovative technologies to provide cleaner solutions and more flexible compliance with and exceeding the constantly changing global standards, helping customers achieve their sustainable development goals.
