The Hanma transmission has 8, 12 and 16 gears. The quality grade and model of the gear oil is GL-480W-90, with a filling volume of 14L. The first maintenance mileage or time (whichever comes first) is 5,000 to 8,000 kilometers. The regular maintenance interval mileage or time (whichever comes first) is every 100,000 kilometers /12 months for road vehicles. For off-road vehicles, every 50,000 kilometers per 12 months.
Regulations for the Use of Huali Middle and Rear Axle Gear Oil
The quality grade and model of the gear oil added to the wheel end reducer of the middle and rear axles of Huamei axles is GL-5 85W-90. The first maintenance mileage or time (whichever comes first) is 5,000 to 8,000 kilometers. The regular maintenance interval mileage or time (whichever comes first) is 40,000 kilometers /12 months for road vehicles and 30,000 kilometers /12 months for off-road vehicles.
The differences between gear oil GL-4 and GL-5:

Gear oil is an important type of lubricating oil mainly composed of petroleum lubricating oil base oil or synthetic lubricating oil, and is formulated by adding extreme pressure anti-wear agents and oiliness agents. It is used in various gear transmission devices to prevent tooth surface wear, scratches, sintering, etc., extend their service life and improve the efficiency of power transmission. Gear oil should have good anti-wear and load-bearing properties as well as appropriate viscosity. In addition, it should also have good thermal oxidation stability, anti-foaming property, water separation performance and anti-rust performance. Since the load on gears is generally above 490 megapascals (MPa), and the load on the tooth surface of hyperbolic gears can be as high as 2942MPa, extreme pressure anti-wear agents are often added to gear oil to prevent tooth surface wear and scratches caused by oil film rupture. Sulfur-phosphorus or sulfur-phosphorus-nitrogen type additives are commonly used. The transmission can generally use API GL-4 vehicle gear oil, while the rear axle must use API GL-5 vehicle gear oil to avoid damage. So the transmission fluid of API GL-4 must never be used on the rear axle. But can the rear axle lubricating oil be transferred to the transmission for use? Some car owners and car maintenance personnel, due to their lack of understanding of the characteristics of rear axle gear oil, unilaterally believe that rear axle gear oil is better than transmission gear oil. Therefore, when there is no ready-made transmission gear oil available or for the sake of "caring for" the vehicle, they use rear axle gear oil instead of transmission gear oil and add it to the car's transmission. Due to the good lubrication conditions of the gear transmission in the gearbox, there is no need to use extreme pressure additives. If rear axle gear oil is used and sulfur-phosphorus or sulfur-phosphorus-nitrogen type additives are added to the gear oil of GL-5, sulfur-phosphorus will have a strong corrosive effect on copper and its alloys in the transmission.
