Beijing Yuchai Xingshunda has officially started production, with the first hydrogen fuel cell rolling off the production line

Hydrogen energy, as a secondary energy source, has advantages such as diverse sources, being clean and carbon-free, and having a wide range of application scenarios. It is not only an ideal medium for promoting the clean and efficient utilization of traditional fossil energy, but also the preferred choice for new energy vehicles to achieve zero carbon emissions. The automotive industry has a long history of exploring hydrogen energy application technologies. Currently, in terms of hydrogen power, there are mainly two technical routes: fuel cells and hydrogen-fired power. The technical route of hydrogen fuel cells is to generate electricity through the electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and air to power vehicles, and it does not produce any exhaust gas except water.

On that day, the 90kW hydrogen fuel cell product that came off the production line was developed by Beijing Yuchai Xingshunda based on the use of key domestic components and combined with its own electronic control system. This product features interface end face and system flattening, as well as a power generation efficiency of up to 60%, cold start at -30℃ without assistance, and a design life leading the industry. It is suitable for hydrogen fuel power matching of 10-meter to 12-meter buses, 8-ton to 18-ton medium and heavy-duty trucks and other complete vehicles. The hydrogen fuel cell system has been announced and the 12-meter tourist bus equipped with Suzhou King Long has been announced. It will be put into batch use by end users this year.

The hydrogen fuel cell system assembly line of Beijing Yuchai Xingshunda is a production line independently designed by Yuchai, which condenses the advanced experience of Yuchai in engine manufacturing. Adopting advanced production management techniques and error-proofing technologies, it has an annual production capacity of 1,000 units and is a fully flexible manufacturing modular production line, covering the production of hydrogen fuel cell systems ranging from 90kW to 200kW.

It is the enterprise with the most diverse range of new energy power models in China and has achieved significant breakthroughs in areas such as hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen-fueled engines, plug-in hybrid power, range extenders, and electric drive axles.

In terms of hydrogen fuel cells, Yuchai takes Nanning, Wuxi and Beijing as its R&D and manufacturing bases. Relying on Yuchai's technological reserves and market development capabilities in new energy power, and combining the significant policy advantages of Beijing and Jiangsu as the leading regions of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Jiangsu hydrogen fuel cell vehicle demonstration city cluster, as well as the market application advantages of Xingshunda Passenger Transport, Form a fuel cell development ecosystem integrating R&D, production, sales and application. In the future, high-power fuel cell systems will be gradually introduced, the production of core components of fuel cells such as fuel cell stacks and membrane electrodes, as well as the production and sales of hydrogen production equipment, to expand the hydrogen energy industry chain.

In the field of hydrogen-burning engines, in recent years, the R&D team of Yuchai has been constantly promoting the technological progress of hydrogen-burning engines by overcoming problems such as backfire, pre-ignition, knocking, hydrogen embrittlement, low exhaust temperature and high water content. At present, Yuchai has developed China's first commercial vehicle hydrogen-fueled engine YCK05H, China's largest displacement and maximum horsepower hydrogen-fueled engine YCK16H, and China's first flexible fuel power platform to achieve commercial operation. In the next three to five years, Yuchai hydrogen-burning engines will overcome product thresholds such as durability and reliability, gradually achieve marketization, and their comprehensive performance indicators such as thermal efficiency will reach the international leading level.

In areas such as plug-in hybrid power, range extenders, and electric drive axles, Yuchai has also achieved industry leadership. In 2019, Yuchai released the world's first power-split plug-in hybrid. In 2022, it developed the largest power integrated flywheel range extender in China... At present, Yuchai has over 200 patents in the field of new energy power systems, becoming the top player in the domestic commercial vehicle hybrid power market share. It is also the enterprise with the most comprehensive technical routes, the widest product range and the most extensive application scenarios in the new energy power system industry. At present, Yuchai Xinlan has successfully applied the world's first electric drive continuously variable transmission power system, IE-Power, to tractors for the first time and is gradually being launched in the market. Meanwhile, the high-power range-extending power system of Yuchai Xinlan has been introduced into intelligent mining trucks, and its gas-electric hybrid power system has long been applied to 10-meter-long buses. Yuchai's hybrid and range extender products have a remarkable energy-saving effect, saving more than 40% of fuel compared to fuel vehicles.

In the future, Yuchai Xinlan will focus on the strategic guideline of transifrom low-carbon to zero-carbon, focusing on hybrid power, making up for pure electric drive, and developing hydrogen energy power. It will continue to exert efforts in both the market and R&D, further improve the product chain layout, expand the Yuchai new energy power track, and help Yuchai achieve its medium and long-term strategic goals.
