The control device consists of three parts: the driving system, the braking system, and the forklift steering system. Its basic function is to enable the forklift to move, change the direction of movement, reduce the running speed or stop quickly to ensure the safety requirements of loading and unloading operations.

The driving system is composed of the forklift frame, the drive axle, and the steering axle. The driving system basically operates through switches such as the power-on and start switch, the preheating and starting switch, the accelerator pedal, the clutch pedal, and the gearshift lever.

The braking system is divided into foot braking and parking braking. When braking is required during the operation of the forklift, the foot braking device should be used. When parking braking is required, the parking braking should be used. Parking braking is strictly prohibited from being used instead of foot braking.

The foot brakes of the forklift can be divided into two types: hydraulic transmission drum type wheel brakes and pneumatic transmission drum type wheel brakes.

The braking system of the forklift consists of the following two parts:

(1) Transmission mechanism: composed of the brake pedal that controls the braking device, the pull rod, the master cylinder, and the slave cylinder.

(2) Brake: composed of the brake hub that rotates with the wheel and the fixed element brake hub.

The function of the forklift steering system is to control the running direction of the forklift. The steering system consists of the steering wheel, the steering gear, and the steering linkage.

Due to the frequent steering of the forklift, the maximum operating force of the steering wheel should be less than 0.1 kN, and it should be around 20-30 N when in operation. Therefore, small-tonnage forklifts use reversible cycloidal ball-type steering gears, and forklifts weighing 2000 kg or more use power steering to improve the handling performance.
