How to maintain a two-cylinder diesel generator
The maintenance of a two-cylinder diesel generator can be carried out in the following steps:
Daily inspection and maintenance
Pre-startup inspection: Before each startup, it is necessary to confirm the oil level of the lubricating oil, the coolant level, the status of the air filter, the ventilation condition of the radiator, the tightness of the drive belt, the fuel supply and the connection status of the battery.
In-operation monitoring: Check the operating parameters (such as water temperature, oil pressure, voltage, etc.) every 6 to 8 hours. After the standby unit is shut down, a re-inspection is required.
Daily cleaning: Remove dust and debris from the surface of the generator set to ensure smooth exhaust and air intake and exhaust.
Replace and clean regularly
Engine oil and filter
The engine oil and filter of the new unit need to be replaced within 50 hours of operation or within 3 months (the running-in period).
Subsequently, the engine oil, oil filter, diesel filter and water filter should be replaced every 200 hours of operation or 6 months (whichever comes first).
Air filter
Check once every two weeks of operation. If the usage environment is harsh (such as dusty), the cycle should be shortened.
Clean the filter element regularly and replace it immediately when the differential pressure indicator turns red.
Cooling system
Check the coolant level every 200 hours of operation. If it is insufficient, add coolant of the same brand.
Clean the radiator regularly to prevent clogging. Antifreeze should be used in cold regions.
Maintenance of key components
Belt inspection: Check the tension of the fan belt and the charger belt every 100 hours of operation. Adjust or replace them if necessary.
Battery maintenance
Keep the battery fully charged. For wet batteries, regularly check the specific gravity and liquid level of the electrolyte.
Clean the battery terminals and connecting wires to prevent corrosion.
Fuel system
Regularly drain the accumulated water and sediment from the fuel tank and filters to prevent fuel contamination.
If the fuel has not been used for a long time (such as 3 to 6 months), it needs to be tested or polished.
Professional-level deep maintenance
Quarterly maintenance (600 hours) : Check the axial clearance of the turbocharger (standard 0.06-0.08mm), and adjust the valve clearance when the machine is cold (intake 0.35mm/ exhaust 0.40mm).
Annual maintenance
Use a wireless endoscope to inspect the wear of the cylinder liner (if the wear amount is greater than 0.15mm, honing treatment is required).
Conduct phased load tests (50%-110% of the rated power), and capture the voltage waveform with an oscilloscope (check the AVR module when the distortion is greater than 3%).
The standby unit should undergo a comprehensive maintenance at least once a year, including changing the engine oil, etc.
