Tenneco made its appearance at the 2020 Beijing International Wind Energy Exhibition
Tenneco Powertrain business will participate in the China Wind Energy Conference to be held in Beijing from October 14th to 16th, 2020 (booth E1 C08), showcasing its DEVA self-lubricating maintenance-free bearings developed through cutting-edge material technology. Tenneco's proprietary solutions can effectively reduce downtime and maintenance costs, ensure the smooth operation of wind turbines, and optimize operating costs at the same time.
China is one of the world's largest wind power generation markets. Tenneco's reliable bearing bush solutions for wind power have been widely recognized by Chinese customers. Hendryk Pfeuffer, General Manager of Tennant Powertrain's DEVA business, said, "Based on our global experience and comprehensive capabilities, we will also drive the development of new technologies and work with our customers to address the various challenges posed by wind power generation to bearing bush applications."
Unlike traditional grease-lubricated bearings, the DEVA bearing shells showcased at this exhibition are all made of self-lubricating and maintenance-free materials, which can prevent severe bearing wear and regular maintenance caused by high loads, constantly changing working conditions and 24/7 operation in the wind power industry.
Yaw braking system with bronze pistons
One of the highlights of Tenneco's booth is the use of deva.metal® standard brake pads in combination with copper pistons to form a continuous spring pre-tensioning braking system. This solution is applied to the design of the yaw gear ring of the wind turbine's rolling bearings, optimizing the anti-vibration and noise reduction performance and ensuring the smooth and quiet operation of the wind turbine. deva.metal has been widely used in the yaw braking systems of wind turbines in the American market. Its reliable service life is up to 14 years, reducing maintenance and downtime, and enabling noise-free operation.
Yaw gaskets suitable for dry friction and grease application
The new generation of deva.tex® composite material yaw gasket is a product specially developed for wind power yaw gear rings. Deva.tex composite materials are maintenance-free and do not require additional lubricating materials. However, it has lipophilic properties and can be coated with anti-rust grease to prevent the gear ring from rusting. It can also solve the noise problem caused by the viscosity of the yaw slider system due to oil leakage from the fan. In addition, under various extreme loads and slip speeds, this new material exhibits excellent tribological properties and an extremely low wear rate, enabling quiet operation and eliminating whistling noise to an extremely low level.
In addition to the deva.tex yaw liner, visitors also saw wind wheel locks made of deva.tex composite materials at the booth, which are suitable for emergency shutdowns during wind turbine maintenance or in special wind conditions.
In addition, Tenneco will also showcase deva.glide® and deva.bm® self-lubricating bearings, which are used in the hinge and slewing bearing systems of heavy-duty cranes installed on offshore wind turbines. It eliminates the need for users to regularly add grease for maintenance and can effectively resist the corrosive effects of a humid seawater environment. Compared with the rolling bearing design, the DEVA self-lubricating bearing reduces the number of rotating parts, ensuring the reliable operation of the 10,000-ton floating crane on the offshore wind power installation vessel.
