   Under the global wave of green development, the new energy vehicle industry is booming. However, compared with the rapid popularization of new energy passenger vehicles, the development of new energy commercial vehicles still faces considerable challenges. Especially for heavy-duty truck models in long-distance transportation scenarios, vehicles often need to travel hundreds or even thousands of kilometers. Problems such as range anxiety, insufficient charging facilities, and long charging times have seriously restricted the promotion and development of new energy heavy-duty trucks.

  Recently, Sinotruk Chengdu has launched the V7-X natural gas range-extended heavy-duty truck, bringing a new breakthrough to the development of new 

energy heavy-duty trucks. This model weighs only 9.3 tons in total and is equipped with a 1,350L gas tank. Powered by a natural gas range-extending 

system, it achieves an ultra-long range of 1,400 kilometers, effectively addressing issues such as range anxiety faced by new energy heavy-duty trucks.

  In the range-extending system, the generator, as the core component for energy conversion, plays a decisive role in the range-extending efficiency, system 

integration, and overall vehicle economy. The Sinotruk Chengdu V7-X natural gas range-extended heavy-duty truck adopts hub power axial flux motor as 

the generator, achieving all-round optimization compared with the traditional radial flux generator.

Specifically, this generator has a power generation capacity of 180kW, with an axial length of only 200mm and a weight of just 150kg. Compared with traditional generators of the same power, both the axial length and weight can be reduced by about 30%. It can be highly integrated with extended-range engines, leaving more space for chassis layout and vehicle design, effectively reducing the vehicle's own weight and enhancing its cargo capacity

  In terms of efficiency, the hub axial flux motor can achieve double 92%, and its efficiency can be greater than 92% under operating conditions above 92%. In contrast, the traditional radial flux motor can generally only reach double 90%, and its high-efficiency range is significantly better than that of similar products. In actual operation, this model can generate 4.85 kilowatt-hours of electricity per kilogram of natural gas. The vehicle's energy consumption is 15% lower than that of traditional pure natural gas vehicles, significantly reducing operating costs and bringing more economic benefits to users.

  In addition to its outstanding application in the field of range-extending generators, the axial flux motor of Pan Hub Power also performs well as a vehicle drive motor. On the central drive model, the motor + transmission structure is more compact. Taking a motor with a rated power of 320kW and a peak power of 450kW as an example, the motor + transmission weighs only 360kg and is only about 750mm long. The high-efficiency zone of the motor also reaches double 92%. With an extremely light and short power chain, it provides stable and powerful output to the entire vehicle. It still performs well even in extreme working conditions such as continuous uphill and downhill slopes when fully loaded.

  On integrated axle models, thanks to the fact that the volume and self-weight of the hub axial flux motor are only about 50% of those of traditional motors, a power combination of "axial flux motor + three-speed transmission" can be achieved, making the vehicle more adaptable to various working conditions, consuming less energy, and also solving the problem of power shift interruption. In addition, the most important thing is that it can free up more space for the vehicle's chassis layout, achieving a bottom-mounted battery solution. This not only allows for flexible adjustment of battery power according to customer needs but also lowers the vehicle's center of gravity, making the vehicle's driving more stable and safe.

  The hub power axial flux motor, with its advantages of small size, light weight and high efficiency, has demonstrated outstanding application performance in various technical routes of new energy heavy-duty trucks. It is an ideal solution for addressing issues such as range anxiety, power performance and vehicle layout.
