Analysis and Prevention of Paver Speed Drop Faults
One of the more common problems encountered during the operation of a paver is the engine speed drop. The direct cause of engine speed drop is usually the unevenness of the load on the paver. According to the power characteristics of diesel engines, when there is a sudden change in the engine load (resistance torque value), the engine speed will automatically decrease. Meanwhile, the speed control device of the engine will actively increase the fuel supply, and the output torque will increase accordingly to resist the resistance torque. When the output torque value reaches a level sufficient to balance the resistance torque value, the engine speed will stop decreasing and, on the basis of the governor continuing to function, the engine speed will partially rise. However, if a large-scale speed drop occurs, that is, the speed value has fallen below the peak of the torque value on the engine's power characteristic curve, then it is impossible to restore the engine's rotational speed by relying on the engine's autonomous speed regulation mechanism.
The cause of a large-scale drop in engine speed is generally due to leakage faults in the fuel supply circuit or intake circuit of the engine. Secondly, the quality of the fuel used in the engine is also a factor that cannot be ignored. Therefore, to prevent the occurrence of this accident, efforts must be made from here. The specific measures are as follows:
Check the fuel supply circuit: Whether there is any air leakage caused by loose pipe joints or pipeline rupture in the entire circuit. Is there any blockage in the entire circuit?
Check the intake circuit: Whether the air filter element is clogged and needs maintenance or replacement.
Confirm whether the fuel used in the engine is qualified and whether the water content of the fuel is too high. To this end, if there is an oil-water separator on the fuel supply return line, it can alleviate the problems caused by the quality of the fuel.
