A wrapping machine is a device used to wrap and seal products with packaging materials, and is widely applied in industries such as food, medicine, and daily chemicals. During operation, the wrapping machine may encounter various common faults. The following is a detailed introduction:

I. Electrical System failure

The motor is not running.

Reasons: The power supply is not connected, the motor winding is open-circuited or short-circuited, the motor control circuit is faulty, the motor protection device is activated (such as a thermal relay tripping), etc. For instance, a loose power plug or a damaged socket can result in the power not being connected. Long-term overload operation of the motor may cause the windings to burn out.

Solution: Check the power connection to ensure that the plug is tightly inserted and the socket is functioning properly. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the motor winding to determine if there is an open circuit or short circuit. If there is any damage, the motor needs to be replaced. Inspect the motor control circuit and repair any open or short circuit points. Inspect protective devices such as thermal relays, reset or replace faulty devices.

Sensor failure

Reasons: Sensor damage, improper installation position of the sensor, fault in the connection line between the sensor and the control system, contamination of the sensor surface, etc. For instance, if a photoelectric sensor is blocked by dust, it will affect its detection of products.

Solution: Use a multimeter to measure the output signal of the sensor to determine if it is working properly. If it is damaged, replace the sensor. Adjust the installation position of the sensor to ensure that it can accurately detect the product. Check the connection lines between the sensor and the control system, and repair any open or short circuit points. Clean the dirt on the surface of the sensor.

Control system failure

Reasons: PLC(Programmable Logic Controller) program errors, touch screen malfunctions, control module damage, etc. For instance, programming errors may cause the wrapping machine to fail to operate according to the preset process.

Solution: Check the PLC program, identify and correct errors; Calibrate the touch screen or replace the faulty one; Check the input and output signals of the control module. If any are damaged, replace the control module.

Ii. Mechanical transmission system failure

The chain or belt is slipping

Reasons: Insufficient tension of the chain or belt, severe wear of the chain or belt, damage to the sprocket or pulley, etc. For instance, after prolonged use, the chain will elongate, resulting in insufficient tension and slippage.

Solution: Adjust the tensioning device of the chain or belt to increase the tension force; Check the wear condition of the chain or belt. If the wear is severe, replace the chain or belt. Check whether the tooth profile of the sprocket or pulley is worn. If it is damaged, replace the sprocket or pulley.

Abnormal noise from the transmission components

Reasons: Bearing damage, poor gear meshing, loose couplings, etc. For instance, a lack of oil or wear in the bearing can cause abnormal noises during operation.

Solution: Disassemble the transmission components, check the operation of the bearings, and replace them if damaged. Check the meshing clearance and tooth surface wear of the gears, and adjust the meshing clearance or replace the worn gears. Check whether the connecting bolts of the coupling are loose. If they are loose, tighten the bolts.

The moving parts are stuck

Reasons: Improper installation of mechanical components, foreign objects entering the mechanical structure, poor lubrication, etc. For instance, having debris on the guide rail can prevent moving parts from sliding normally.

Solution: Check the installation of mechanical components and readjust the installation positions. Clear foreign objects from the mechanical structure; Check the lubrication system, add or replace the lubricating oil to ensure that the moving parts are well lubricated.

Iii. Faults in the transportation of packaging materials

The packaging materials are off course

Reasons: The packaging material drum is not installed properly, the conveying roller is not parallel, the deviation correction device malfunctions, etc. For instance, if the center line of the packaging material drum is not perpendicular to the conveying direction, it will cause the packaging material to deviate during the conveying process.

Solution: Adjust the installation position of the packaging material drum so that its center line is perpendicular to the conveying direction. Adjust the parallelism of the conveying rollers; Check the working condition of the deviation correction device and repair or replace the faulty one.

The packaging material is broken

Reasons: Poor quality of packaging materials, excessive conveying tension, sharp edges of conveying components scratching the packaging materials, etc. For instance, if the strength of the packaging material is insufficient, it is prone to breakage during transportation.

Solution: Replace with packaging materials of qualified quality; Adjust the conveying tension of the packaging material to keep it within an appropriate range; Inspect the conveying components, remove sharp edges or carry out grinding treatment.

The packaging material is clogged

Reasons: The conveying channel for packaging materials is not unobstructed, the packaging materials are not folded correctly, and the sealing device malfunctions, preventing the packaging materials from passing through normally, etc. For instance, the accumulation of debris in the conveying channel can lead to the blockage of packaging materials.

Solution: Clear the packaging material conveying channel to ensure it is unobstructed. Check the folding device of the packaging material and adjust the folding parameters to ensure that the packaging material folds correctly. Inspect the sealing device and repair or replace the faulty components.

Iv. Failure of the sealing system

The seal is not firm.

Reasons: Inappropriate sealing temperature, insufficient sealing time, inadequate sealing pressure, mismatch between packaging materials and sealing components, etc. For instance, if the sealing temperature is too low, the sealing area of the packaging material cannot be fully fused.

Solution: Adjust the sealing temperature to meet the requirements of the packaging material; Increase the sealing time; Adjust the sealing pressure to meet the specified value; Select sealing components that match the packaging materials.

There are wrinkles at the seal

Reasons: Uneven tension of the packaging material during sealing, improper installation of sealing components, and wrinkles in the packaging material itself, etc. For instance, if the upper and lower heating plates of the sealing component are not parallel, it will cause uneven force distribution at the sealing area and result in wrinkles.

Solution: Adjust the conveying tension of the packaging material to make it uniform; Check the installation of the sealing components and readjust the installation positions. Check the quality of the packaging materials. If there are wrinkles, replace the packaging materials.

The sealing component is damaged.

Reasons: Long-term use leads to wear of the sealing components, excessive sealing temperature causes deformation or damage to the sealing components, improper operation results in impact on the sealing components, etc. For instance, if the sealing heating plate works at high temperatures for a long time, it may deform.

Solution: Regularly inspect the wear condition of the sealing components. If any damage is found, replace them in a timely manner. Adjust the sealing temperature to avoid it being too high. Standardize the operation to prevent the sealing components from being affected by the impact net
