The excavator won't start. How can I solve this problem?

If it is a long-term failure to start, especially in winter, you may have a short break. This is because it is caused by problems with the engine itself. It could be a valve leak or a large gap between the piston rings, resulting in insufficient compression temperature, or other reasons. In short, it is not something that the excavator driver can solve.

If it is a temporary failure to start, for instance, it was fine yesterday but won't start today, or it just stopped and won't start, in such cases, we can actually investigate the cause of the problem.

First, the electricity is not connected. Second, the oil has not arrived.

When investigating the cause, the following aspects should be taken into consideration

1. Start the motor. If there is no sound, it indicates that it is not powered on

It is recommended to check whether the battery terminals have poor contact or are burned out. For some models, it is recommended that you first confirm that the main hydraulic switch is locked. Because for many models, they cannot be started when the main hydraulic switch is not turned on.

2. The motor started moving, but the speed was slow and the sound was weak

It indicates that the battery power is insufficient. It is recommended to check whether the generator belt is normal. It would be best to measure the power generation. If everything is normal, usually you can only call the excavator owner.

3. The motor speed and sound are normal when starting, but it won't start

It indicates that the fuel has not arrived. It is recommended that you clean the diesel pipeline to see if it is blocked. The two points that are prone to blockage are the small filter screens at the bottom of the diesel tank and the hand oil pump.

It's also possible that air got in when changing the filter element. Loosen the exhaust screw and pump oil with a hand oil pump to expel the air.

4. It is easy to start a cold car but difficult to start a hot one

Contrary to common understanding, the symptoms of this situation are that it is easy to start in the morning or when the temperature is low. Once the water temperature of the machine rises to a certain level, it cannot be started again after being turned off. It is necessary to wait until the machine cools down before starting it again.

If after going through all kinds of hardships to start the engine, you find that the excavator doesn't move at all, and if you rule out hydraulic problems, in principle, there are two other reasons for this phenomenon.

The first issue is that the rubber block connecting the engine and the hydraulic pump breaks, causing the rotation of the engine's main shaft to be unable to be transmitted to the hydraulic pump. However, I think the probability of this happening is extremely low.

Secondly, your main hydraulic switch has failed. There are usually two designs for the main hydraulic switch of excavators: one is directly controlled by hydraulic components, and the other is controlled by electronic components. Currently, electronic component control is more common, but it is also more prone to malfunction and failure."
