Scale Removal Methods Scale removal. For removing scale from cast iron cylinder

Scale Removal Methods

Scale removal. For removing scale from cast iron cylinders and similar parts, an 8%-10% hydrochloric acid solution with 3% Rodine corrosion inhibitor relati

to the acid amount can be heated to 50°C-60°C and poured into the water jacket. Let it soak for 2-3 hours before draining, then rinse with a water solution

containing potassium dichromate, or pour a 5% sodium hydroxide solution into the water jacket to neutralize residual acid. Finally, rinse several times with

clean water until thoroughly clean.

Sodium hydroxide solution for scale removal. To remove silicate-based scale, add a 2%-3% sodium hydroxide solution to the cooling system.

After the locomotive operates for 1-2 days, drain the solution and rinse with water. Repeat this once, then thoroughly rinse the cooling system with water.

Grease Removal Methods

Alkaline solution for grease removal. To remove animal, vegetable, or mineral oil from part surfaces, use a solid compound solution with a small amount

of emulsifier, heat it, and then clean. Pressure spraying yields better results. After cleaning, rinse with heated water to remove residual alkaline solution.

Organic solvent for grease removal. To prevent alkaline solutions from corroding precision parts (e.g., high-pressure fuel pumps, injectors), use organic

solvents (e.g., gasoline, kerosene, alcohol) for cleaning.

Aluminum alloy cleaning solution for grease removal. Since alkaline solutions strongly corrode aluminum and organic solvents are costly, a specialized

aluminum alloy cleaning solution can be prepared. Typically, a sodium silicate or sodium carbonate solution with a small amount of potassium dichromate

is used, heated to 60°C-70°C for optimal results.

Carbon Deposit Removal Methods

Mechanical method. Use metal brushes, scrapers, or other tools to remove carbon deposits. However, this may scratch part surfaces, so for precision

parts, use wooden or bamboo scrapers or rub against a soft wood board. After mechanical removal, clean thoroughly with engine oil. This method is

simple but may struggle with hard-to-reach areas.

Chemical method. Soak parts in a prepared chemical solution until the carbon deposits soften and loosen. Then remove the parts, scrub with a brush

or cotton, and rinse with hot water.
