How to use agricultural electric motors correctly
1. Fuses must be installed in the motor circuit. During the operation of the motor, it may ground due to the insulation of the winding being burned out, or short circuit may occur due to the contact of its connection terminals. To protect the power supply and quickly eliminate short-circuit faults, a fuse must be installed in the motor circuit 2. The rated current value of the fuse can be 2.5 to 3 times the rated current of the motor. In this way, when the motor overruns, the fuse is less likely to be burned out, and when a short circuit fault occurs in the circuit, the fuse can melt quickly to protect the motor. In some heavy-load and over-limit electric circuits, the rated current of the fuse can also be slightly larger. This can effectively reduce the phase failure fault of the fuse (i.e., the fuse burns out one phase, causing single-phase operation and damaging the winding), but still provide sufficient short-circuit protection.
2 Pay close attention to the temperature changes during the operation of the motor. If the motor temperature does not exceed the maximum allowable temperature of the insulating material used, the service life of the insulating material will be longer, reaching over 20 years. If the temperature exceeds the maximum allowable temperature, it will cause the insulating material to age and become brittle, thereby shortening the service life of the motor. In severe cases, the insulating material will carbonize and become brittle, affecting the insulation performance and causing the motor to burn out. Therefore, during the operation of the motor, if the motor temperature exceeds the maximum temperature, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection to prevent the motor from being burned out. In addition, if the motor temperature is found to be much lower than the maximum temperature, it indicates that the load is too small. In such cases, the load can be increased or a smaller power motor can be used
3 If the power of the motor is chosen too high, it will cause waste, increase investment, and as the motor often operates at low load, its efficiency and power will decrease, leading to a decline in economic benefits. Conversely, if the power is selected too low, the motor will operate under overload, reducing the rotational speed and increasing the temperature rise, which will cause premature damage to the motor. Therefore, choosing an appropriate power motor can enhance economic benefits and prolong the service life of the motor.
