How to use a battery correctly

What are the reasons for the difficulty in starting a diesel engine?

Difficulty in starting is the most common fault in the operation of diesel engines, but its causes are very complex. The main factors affecting starting performance include three aspects: the structure of the engine, fuel, and the performance of the starting system.

(1) In terms of engine structure: ① The low-pressure fuel line does not supply fuel, the fuel pressure is too low, and there is air in the fuel line; ② The oil supply pressure, oil supply time and oil supply volume of the high-pressure pump do not meet the requirements. The fuel injection pressure, spray quality and injection Angle of the fuel injector do not meet the requirements. ③ The air filter is clogged, resulting in insufficient air intake. ④ Due to the reasons of the valve train and the crank connection mechanism, the compression force of the cylinder is insufficient. ⑤ Inaccurate valve clearance or incorrect valve timing.

(2) Oil: Poor quality of oil or impurities such as water in the oil make it difficult for the oil to form a combustible mixture with air.

(3) Starting system: The starting speed of a general high-speed diesel engine should be 100 to 150r/min. If the starting speed is insufficient, the engine will be difficult to start. The reasons for insufficient starting speed, apart from the structural factors of the engine itself (excessive operating resistance), mainly include insufficient starting torque, decreased battery power and excessive resistance in the starting circuit.
