The installation method of belt conveyors

The installation of the belt conveyor frame starts with the head frame, followed by the sequential installation of each middle frame, and finally the tail frame is installed. Before installing the frame, it is necessary to first draw the center line along the entire length of the conveyor. As keeping the center line of the conveyor in a straight line is an important condition for the normal operation of the conveyor belt, when installing each section of the frame, it must be aligned with the center line. At the same time, the frame should also be erected to level it. The allowable error of the frame from the center line is ±0.1mm per meter of length. However, the error from the center of the frame along the entire length of the conveyor shall not exceed 35mm. After all the individual sections have been installed and located accurately, they can be connected together.

2. Installation of the drive unit When installing the drive unit, it is essential to ensure that the drive shaft of the belt conveyor is perpendicular to the center line of the belt conveyor, the center of the width of the drive roller coincides with the center line of the conveyor, and the shaft line of the reducer is parallel to the drive shaft line. At the same time, all shafts and rollers should be leveled. The horizontal error of the shaft is allowed within the range of 0.5 to 1.5mm depending on the width of the conveyor. While installing the drive unit, the tail wheel and other tensioning devices can also be installed. The roller axis of the tensioning device should be perpendicular to the center line of the belt conveyor.

3. Installation of idlers: After the frame, transmission device and tensioning device are installed, the idler frame for the upper and lower idlers can be installed to make the conveyor belt have a slowly changing direction with a curved arc. The spacing of the idler frames in the curved section is 1/2 to 1/3 of the normal spacing of the idler frames. After the idler rollers are installed, they should rotate flexibly and smoothly.

4. Final alignment of the belt conveyor To ensure that the conveyor belt always runs on the center line of the idlers and rollers, the following requirements must be met when installing the idlers, frames and rollers:

All idlers must be arranged in rows, parallel to each other, and kept horizontally level.

2) All the rollers are arranged in rows and parallel to each other.

3) The supporting structure frame must be in a straight line and remain horizontal laterally. For this reason, after the drive rollers and idler frames are installed, the centerline and levelness of the conveyor should be finally aligned.

5. Then fix the rack to the foundation or floor slab. After the belt conveyor is fixed, feeding and discharging devices can be installed.

6. When hanging the conveyor belt, first lay the conveyor belt strips on the idlers of the no-load section to encircle the drive rollers, and then place them on the idlers of the heavy-load section. The hanging belt strip can use a hand-cranked winch with a capacity of 0.5 to 1.5 tons. When connecting the tensioning strip, the roller of the tensioning device should be moved to the limit position. For the trolley and the screw-type tensioning device, they should be pulled towards the transmission device. The vertical tensioning device should move the roller to the very top. Before tensioning the conveyor belt, the reducer and the motor should be installed properly. For inclined conveyors, the braking device should be installed.

After the belt conveyor is installed, it needs to be run idle for a test. During the no-load test run, it is necessary to pay attention to whether there is any deviation of the conveyor belt during operation, the operating temperature of the drive part, the movement of the idlers during operation, the tightness of contact between the cleaning device and the guide plate and the surface of the conveyor belt, etc. At the same time, necessary adjustments should be made. Only after all components are normal can the load test run be carried out. If a screw-type tensioning device is adopted, during the load operation test run, its tightness should be adjusted again.
